In Observance of Dr. King...

In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday, I will not be posting a Problem of the Day for Mon Jan. 15th.
Instead, I ask you to consider what Dr. King would say if he were by some miracle to be with us for just one day. Would he be amazed by how far human rights have come in the past 40 years or would perhaps he feel that he went to sleep for just one day...

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that ... one day... little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!

I like the question that you posed. I think that if Dr. King, along with Dr. Carter G. Woodson, W.E.B. Dubois, Malcolm X and others, were here today, if only for a day, they would be disappointed in all of us.

school teacher (I wish this could be less impersonal!)-- thanks so much for that response. I wanted to provoke some thought by saying something meaningful in the fewest number of words. You were the only one to express what I feel also...
